We’d like to start this job posting off with some questions. We’ve filled in the answer that GREAT candidates will have next to each question.
Are you looking for a career not a job? *Yes, I want to join a company where performance is rewarded with higher pay, more responsibility, and bigger challenges.*
Do you hate communism, entitlements, and government run programs? *with a passion*
Do you like merit-based pay and an ultra-performance based environment? *yes, let me control my own destiny*
Do you want to always be striving to increase your skills, competency, and pay? *is this a stupid question contest?*
Do you want to work at a place that gives you the opportunity to run your own business division and get paid like an owner? *that sounds great, I’ve worked at lots of jobs where the morons get paid the same as the people that are good, so I’m definitely ready to work at a place where I get to eat what I kill*
Alright, if you made it through our “weed-out” questions, we’ll now present you with the job description details.
What We Do:
The short answer is that we’re a flatbed company (feel free to check out our website – www.ddfab.co). We sell our flatbeds in 3 different formats: 1. Fully built and installed flatbeds in the greater Central Oregon area 2. DIY Weld-Yourself Flatbed Kits that we ship nationwide (E-commerce product) and 3. Our dealer program where we license other welding shops around the country to build and install our designs of flatbeds from their shop.
Our Values and Company Culture:
Our mission is to be a nationally recognized flatbed brand in the next 5 years, so we only have one gear: hard and fast. Not only do we move at an exceptionally high speed, but we also expect everything we create to be excellent. Our top 4 values are hard work, excellence, speed, and integrity. To be frank, you have to be in the 95th+ percentile levels of all four to work here. We would rather remain smaller than hire someone who isn’t an excellent fit. We are currently a small shop (2-5 employees) but have big plans to grow as we are breaking ground on a much bigger building this summer. We don’t offer a super sexy traditional benefit package, but we do care about you as a person, your family, and your goals. We’re flexible about time off, because we understand you have a personal life outside of work and things that are more important than work. You’ll be treated with respect and honor, but will be expected to do the same. If you act like you are self-employed (“A player”), you’ll be treated and paid like an owner. If you are a “B Player”, we will work our hardest to train and promote you into an “A Player”. If you are a “C Player” you will also be promoted…to customer status.
Job Overview and “A Player” characteristics:
This is primarily a sales job, with some minor computer admin tasks and general shop labor as needed. You will be provided with warm leads on a daily basis, and be responsible for reaching out to, selling, and closing the leads for both our Flatbed Dealer Program, as well as fully built and installed flatbeds that we install at our Bend, OR location. The ideal candidate will have some form of sales experience, ideally in the form of outbound phone sales. (Other sales experience welcome). You will be expected to spend 80% of your time on the phone with dealer program leads and fully built flatbed leads (50-100 phone calls per day).
The perfect candidate for this job will be obsessed with speed, productivity, and competence and be absolutely appalled by people and things that move slowly, screw around, and aren’t good at their job. The perfect candidate will be hungry, humble, and smart, and take pride in achieving maximum productivity and efficiency while doing a great job. They will learn fast, not complain, be coachable, and flexible as their job duties will vary dramatically, often at a moment’s notice. They will enjoy the challenge of new duties and want to quickly master as many skills as they can. They will have upbeat, positive energy and a great attitude every day. They will also be excited to be paid based on performance, because they will have the ability to 2x,3x, or 4x their income based on their ability to produce at a high level. They have no problem being held accountable for their results, because they know they can produce great results if they are given the tools to succeed.
Job Description:
Sales & Coaching: Flatbed Dealer Program – Duties will include reaching out to dealer program leads, performing initial interviews, and closing qualified candidates.. You will be paid a commission for each candidate that joins the program. (www.ddfab.co/become-a-dealer/) After a dealer has joined the program, you will also be responsible for coaching that dealer and ensuring their success once they are in the program. You will be a percentage of each unit the dealer sells once they are in the program. The coaching is more of a slow burn, but can add a significant amount of income in a somewhat passive manner.
Sales: Fully Built Flatbeds – Includes proactive reach outs to incoming flatbed leads, following up with past leads, and creating sales of the product. (www.ddfab.co/hq)
Admin/Computer Tasks – Includes new dealer onboarding, google search ads, and anything else needed.
General Shop Labor (as needed and optional) – Help with general labor tasks in the shop such as wiring flatbeds, restocking supplies, packaging kits and lights, etc. This will be a very small percentage of your time spent.
Your pay will be extremely performance based with a small hourly base pay with the majority of your income being made via commissions. The product being sold is proven with an extremely efficient sales process you can instantly plug into. We provide you with incoming warm leads, a CRM, and start to finish scripts and processes to close deals.
Compensation:
$40k – $60k annual base depending on experience, with $10K-$150K+ of annual commission available. We are obsessed with creating as many performance based pay items as possible, with your pay scale almost always being on an exponential graph, meaning as you hit certain production or sales goals each month, your commission or bonus increases for every unit after that.
What will happen over time to A and B Players:
If someone is good at something, we aim to put them in a role that maximizes their talents. To put it simply, A players will make exceptional money and be promoted frequently. You’ll be recognized for your strengths and be rewarded with more opportunities to enhance your income, and be given the opportunity to create your own job description.
We’d like to start this job posting off with some questions. We’ve filled in the answer that GREAT candidates will have next to each question.
Are you looking for a welding career not a job? *yes, and I may be interested in moving into sales and customer service down the road*
What are your thoughts on working from home? *I basically look at it as a Ponzi scheme where people get paid to pretend they are working while they actually just watch Netflix and play with their dog*
Alright, if you made it through our “weed-out” questions, we’ll now present you the boring job description details.

THE JOB YOU ARE APPLYING FOR
We are looking for a full-time welder/fabricator to build and install our fully built flatbeds for customers in the greater Central Oregon area. The job entails a mix of MIG welding, band saw cutting, grinding, and CNC table operation. Our products are very standardized and fast to build, but we often do some custom work subject to customer request, so this is an exceptional job opportunity if you are looking to increase your skill as a fabricator (or you already are skilled and just love to do it). However, make sure and read the next section, it gets a lot more interesting…
THE CAREER YOU ARE APPLYING FOR
On a long-term scale, you can expect to move upwards in both pay and responsibility as you prove your competency. We are very communicative with our employees about their long-term goals for income, job responsibilities, and personal goals. You will have a lot of freedom to determine your own schedule and the things you want to spend your time on once you prove yourself. Here’s an example of what the roadmap of your career might look like (but it will largely be up to you):
1. Start out as a welder/fabricator with production bonuses for every unit you build. You’ll also be packaging and shipping DIY flatbed kits, which is kind of boring but pays really well.
2. Move into fully built flatbed bed sales with a sales commission for everything you sell.
3. Now that you know a lot about the product itself and how to sell it, you’d can move into dealer sales and build a portfolio of dealers you manage and get paid a percentage of all of their flatbed sales.
4. Eventually, you’ll buy a yacht or a first gen Cummins with 35,000 original miles since they will be similar in price.
Again, if you just want to weld and love doing that, we totally want you to apply, we just want to be clear that you CAN have a massive upward trajectory if that is what you desire, but also understand some people want to spend their entire life with a welder or grinder in their hand, and we an unlimited supply of that kind of work if you are content only doing that.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED
This is flexible, as we prefer to hire for attitude and raw talent and then train for skill. However, at a minimum a qualified candidate needs to have at least 3 months of experience with welding, grinding, and band saw cutting. CNC table experience a bonus, but not necessary.
COMPENSATION
Pay Range: $40,000-$80,000/year PLUS production bonuses and sales commissions of $10,000-$50,000+ annually. Base pay depends on experience/proficiency.
OUR WORK SCHEDULE
We have flexible work hours, so you can choose between two schedules:
Option 1:M-T 7am-5:30pm (4 tens) OR
Option 2: M-T 7-4:30, F (8AM – 12PM).
HOW TO APPLY
If this seems like a good fit, please fill out the form below. Position is full time at our Bend, OR shop. Interviews by appointment only, walk-ins with no appointment will not get an interview as we are very busy.
